On the afternoon of November 6th, the Party Committee of Kuang Yaming Honors School and the Party Committee of the School of Education jointly held a Party and League lecture titled “Forge Ahead to Embark on a New Journey” along with the “Famous Teachers’ Guidance Learning” course, focusing on studying the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee. Fan Conglai, Director of the Center for the Yangtze River Delta’s Socioeconomic Development of Nanjing University, Professor at Nanjing University Business School, and a national teaching master, gave a special report on “The Transformation of China’s Economic Development Model.” Nearly 200 participants attended the course, including Zhou An, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Kuang Yaming Honors School, Dong Hao, Deputy Dean, Chen Xiaoqing, Deputy Dean of the School of Education and Tao Xingzhi Teacher Education College at Nanjing University, representatives of party members from teacher and student branches, and course participants. The course was chaired by Zhou Yuan, Secretary of the Party Committee of Kuang Yaming Honors School.
Fan Conglai began by discussing the characteristics of Chinese modernization, providing a systematic analysis of the risks and challenges faced by China’s macroeconomic growth in recent years. He explained the underlying logic behind various economic policies introduced in the context of China’s economic transformation. He mentioned that achieving modernization with common prosperity for all is an arduous and complex task, given China’s large population and vast territory. At present, a series of economic policies introduced by the government are moderate and effective measures to address the risks of deflation and economic downturn. Aiming at the goal of high-quality economic development in the future, he believes that developing new quality productive forces represented by artificial intelligence is very urgent.
During the interactive session, teachers and students discussed issues such as economic reform policies, new quality productive forces, and suggestions on interdisciplinary learning of economics for both humanities and science majors. Fan Conglai stated that scientific understanding is interconnected, and we must adapt to the world’s development. In the future era of artificial intelligence, promoting the integration of humanities and sciences is of great significance. He encouraged students to solidify their foundational knowledge, be innovative, stay abreast of new trends in technological development, actively explore emerging research fields, and build an interdisciplinary system to contribute to the development of human society as much as possible.
In her summary, Zhou Yuan mentioned that the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee has made scientific planning and systematic deployment for further deepening reform comprehensively and advancing Chinese modernization. She expressed her hope that all teachers and students would further study and implement the spirit of the meeting, accurately grasp the profound connotation of “reform,” and aim to serve major national strategies and meet the people’s expectation for a better life, contributing to the construction of Chinese modernization through more innovative research achievements.
