From March 13 to 14, Kuang Yaming Honors School successfully carried out its “Build a Leading Country in Education, and Cultivate Top Talents” initiative through a research and exchange visit to a university and a research institute in Shanghai, focusing on promoting employment opportunities and university-enterprise cooperation. Zhou Yuan, Secretary of the Party Committee of Kuang Yaming Honors School; Zhou An, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee; Zou Dawei, Assistant to the Dean; together with the Secretary of the Party Committee Office, Educational Administrator, Counselor, and student representatives, visited Zhiyuan College of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). Liu Bin, Dean of the School of Electronic Science and Engineering at Nanjing University, Kong Linghong, Deputy Secretary of the school’s Party Committee, Jia Xiaoqing, Vice Dean of the school, and Nanjing University Professors Jin Biaobing and Wang Huabing also participated in the visit.
On the afternoon of March 13, the delegation visited Zhiyuan College of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Zhou Yongfeng, Secretary of the Party Committee of Zhiyuan College, and He Feng, Executive Dean, extended a warm welcome to the delegation. Zhou Yuan presented a comprehensive introduction to the educational philosophy, cultivating measures, and outcomes of Kuang Yaming Honors School’s broad-based science education model. Li Bing, Director of the Office of Cooperation and Exchange at Zhiyuan College, provided an overview of the college’s all-around honors education system, curriculum development, faculty resources, and student development achievements. Both sides held in-depth discussions on topics including early-stage undergraduate research training, curriculum reform, and international talent development, while exploring future collaboration on innovative top-tier talent cultivation models and educational reform paths.
On the morning of March 14, the delegation visited the Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology, CAS. Di Zengfeng, Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of the institute, welcomed the group on behalf of the institute. You Lixing, member of the institute’s administrative committee and Director of the Superconducting Electronics Laboratory, led the group on a tour of the exhibition hall and laboratories, followed by a roundtable discussion. Participants from the institute also included Xu Baojian, Director of the Technology Transfer Office; Lian Minying, Director of the Department of Graduate; and Zheng Li, Secretary of the Youth League Committee. Both Di Zengfeng and You Lixing expressed appreciation for the long-standing support of Nanjing University and warmly welcomed the visit. Di Zengfeng provided an overview of the Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology, CAS, focusing on key research achievements, industry-academia integration, and talent cultivation. Zhou Yuan reviewed the development history, educational philosophy, and distinctive features of Kuang Yaming Honors School, and expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from both the School of Electronic Science and Engineering and the institute in education and student cultivation. Jia Xiaoqing presented an overview of the School of Electronic Science and Engineering’s disciplinary strengths, key achievements, and talent development outcomes. At the meeting, Zhou Yuan and Di Zengfeng, on behalf of Kuang Yaming Honors School and the Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology respectively, signed a Party-building cooperation agreement. Liu Bin and You Lixing, representing the School of Electronic Science and Engineering and the institute respectively, signed a cooperation agreement. A lively discussion followed, covering topics such as institutional strengths in talent cultivation, postgraduate recommendation and admission policies, integration of education and industry, and scientific research training systems.
